I remember so many of Poptropica’s teachings because of the game’s immersive elements that forced players to learn while remaining engaged. My experience in Poptropica embedded the leadership values of initiative and thoughtfulness within me. My desire to preserve such a valuable, effective concept motivates my public service area of focus. In response, I initiated the circulation of intentional, immersive educational materials throughout my volunteer work with museums. These include my contributions to a virtual traveling exhibit in which a group of youth actors portrayed historical figures. This was viewed by over ,000 students in my local school district, and inspired my current academic and personal research on the positive impact of such interactive, accessible materials for children. The voyager scholarship will help me achieve my vision because it’s commitment to change and guidance through virtual leadership development sessions. Likewise, on my summer voyage, I hope to combine my writing and videography experiences to create educational media based on legal articles to share art law in an accessible format. I will do this while discovering ways to legally restore and maintain resources like Poptropica. The voyager scholarship program’s broad definition of public service uniquely positions them to allot resources to my niche path of public service, mirroring Poptropica’s values of taking ordinary people to change the world through life-changing journeys.
