Hi my name is Katherine Johnson! What I did that was heroic was I helped prepare the geometry calculations for Alan Shepard's flight, which was the United States first human spaceflight. I also helped to complete and verify the calculations for John Glenn's flight in 1962, which was the first successful orbit in space. I am an American hero for being behind those spaceflights which did a lot for Americas research. I am an inspiration for women in science. I inspire others to educate themselves and just show how mentors can make a difference.
