Some think of the Holy Spirit to be an impersonal force emanating from God. However there are many scriptures that point to the Holy Spirit being a person. A person is a living, intelligent being, with a mind, feelings, and emotions.

Holy Spirit can be grieved.
1. Ephesians 4:30 (NIV)
And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
Holy Spirit can be insulted.
2. Hebrews 10:29 (NIV)
How much more severely do you think someone deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified them, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace?
Holy Spirit can intercede for our behalf.
3. Romans 8:26 (NIV)

Holy Spirit can teach.

Holy Spirit can be lied to as a person.

Holy Spirit is our Helper/Counselor/Comforter (Paraclete in Greek).
